Woolen Fiber Get Away Hook In is one of the most fun hook ins put on by Teresa Kinman of Woolen Heirlooms. This hook in is located at the fair grounds in a nice cool building! Door prize drawings, classes, and lots of shopping available at this hook in!

Teaching a class about Scrappy Hooking techniques for the Crooked River Guild.

Summer Retreat - come for a relaxing 4 days at The Wooly Horse Summer Retreat! This retreat will offer 3 teachers (Chrisi Koehl, Jo Wick and Jenny Smallridge), covering various techniques for primitive hooking and punching. It will all kick off with a Meet & Greet Sunday evening 5-7 (drinks and light finger sandwiches), then rolls into full on teaching Monday morning starting at 9-12, lunch break and then you will have all 3 teachers at your disposal all afternoon till 3, but you are welcome to stay around till 5p.m. hooking on your projects. Lodging and dinner will be on your own, there are several nice restaurants and shops in Hillsboro and/or Wilmington, plus hotels in each town.

Teaching - Making Great Rugs! class in Niles, MI

This retreat is for teachers that are willing to share and want to learn more about the rug hooking business! This retreat will be 3 days of sharing business practices and ideas along with creativity sharing!Aug. 6-7, 2025 Teacher's Retreat is for rug hooking teachers that want to share in their creative processes and business practices. This retreat is for sharing ideas and encouragement to all that participate! Positivity is the theme for this event, we will all leave feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the year ahead.

There will be campers available to stay in (You may arrive Tuesday and head out Friday afternoon or Saturday morning), email to reserve your spot!

Schedule: We will begin Wednesday morning around 10 a.m. (you are welcome to come in on Tuesday) with an introduction period to get familiar with one another. Lunch will be at noonish, provided by The Wooly Horse. The days will be spent sharing and working on any project you want to bring along. Meals will be provided by The Wooly Horse. And we may have a surprise guest speaker focusing on a topic for success! (Comment Sold progarm, would it benefit you?)

The idea of the teacher retreat is for all participants to walk away with a sense of not being out there on an island all alone, making new contacts, taking home some new business practices (or organizational ideas), ideas how to grow your business, creative refresh bouncing ideas off of one another, and a feeling of support for each other in this world of rug hooking! There is room for us all!!!

Cost - Campers are $150 a night, so if you have extra people in your camper you can split the camper fee. And the food is $40 a day, I hope to have some meals catered so that I can join in on the fun of this retreat!!!

Scrappy Hooking Class will be a 2 day class of learning how to hook the super primitive scrappy technique. We will start with a pattern and learn how to pull loops to get the old look and then add in other materials to add to the raggedy look of scrappy hooking. Then finally learn the bathing technique that will give your mat the finish of an old antique looking mat.

Registration forms are through google docs, so you will need a google acct. and it may ask you to request permission via email (jsmallridge95@gmail.com), send that email and I will share with you, then you should be able to print the registration forms. Or let me know that you need a hard copy mailed to you and I will send it (937-302-0769 or jsmallidge95@gmail.com).

Glamping is such a fun event where you come stay in campers and just hook for the entire weekend. We rent campers for you to stay in and feed you all weekend. Our meal plan schedule has changed for this year because they say we feed them too much!!! We will be doing a brunch at around 10:30, snacks in between and then dinner at 5ish. Hope this plan is better for everyone.
